  • Charge retention is three times better due to reduced self-discharge rates.
  • AGM batteries are shipped fully charged and electrically tested for high rate and C1 performance.
    • Flooded battery must be activated and tested at the time of installation. The presence of shorts and manufacturing defects cannot be determined until this time.
    • Proper activation of a flooded battery requires hours of maintenance.
  • RG® batteries have no free electrolyte; batteries are non-spillable even when turned upside down. There is no airframe corrosion damage caused by electrolyte overspray or spillage.
  • AGM batteries are maintenance free - Oxygen and Hydrogen gases recombine on charge, instead of venting into the atmosphere, and therefore water replenishment is never required.
  • Plates are highly compressed between AGM and PolyGuard® separator reducing the internal resistance thus increasing conductivity. This provides superior engine / APU starting power.
  • Increased battery capacity. Compression of plates and AGM casing prevents active material shedding. The shedding of flooded battery active material requires a mud rest at the bottom of the cell case. AGM batteries do not require a mud rest resulting in larger plates with more surface area and more starting power.
  • RG® batteries are safe, producing less the 2% hydrogen gas during a severe overcharge.
    • Hydrogen is flammable in air at 4.1%
  • Sealed lead acid batteries are classified as non-dangerous based on independent laboratory testing and have passed DOT shipping requirements for hazardous materials, 49 CFR Section 173.159. They are not restricted for shipment.

Benefits of Sealed Lead Acid Batteries vs Nickel Cadmium Batteries:

  • Reduced cost of ownership:
    • Lower cost of acquisition.
    • No part replacement.
  • SLAB batteries do not suffer from a memory effect and therefore do not require time consuming cycling as is the case with nickel-cadmium. This means less down time.
  • Gases recombine in AGM batteries so no water replenishment required.
  • There is no threat of “Thermal Runaway” and therefore overtemperature detection systems are not required.
  • RG® Series batteries charge without fading on a constant potential buss.
  • Cold weather performance is equal to or better than nickel-cadmium.
  • Sealed lead acid batteries are classified as non-dangerous based on independent laboratory testing and have passed DOT shipping requirements for hazardous materials, 49 CFR Section 173.159. They are not restricted for shipment.
  • 100% recyclable.

Advantages of Concorde’s RG Series Batteries over Other Sealed Lead Acid Batteries:

  • Lower Internal Resistance and improved charge retention:
    • Result of Concorde’s RG® technology comprised of larger than industry standard over the partition intercell connections, plate compression and increased electrical conductivity.
    • Proprietary Polyguard® Separators – Unique to Concorde.
  • Provides an extra layer of protection against shock and vibration and improved compression reducing internal resistance (No other battery manufacturer provides this extra layer).
  • Copper terminals, bolts and washers instead of lead terminals with steel bolts, washers and wingnuts.
  • Dissimilar metals cause corrosion.
  • Lead terminals wick acid causing corrosion.
  • Lead terminals and steel bolts are subject to melting out when exposed to extremely high current.
  • Copper terminals, bolts and washers are resistant to conditions seen with lead and steel.
  • Improved current conductivity.
